Slab-Off (height compensation prism)

Due to excessive optical power differences (anisometropia) of the eyes, disturbing double images (diplopia) usually occur at close range.

When looking to the near area so it can arise a called height prism. If your customer is unable to tolerate or compensate for this height prism is a possible alternative is a slab-off glass.

Slab-Off bifocal / trifocal

Height compensation prism near | Slab off edge on seam edge

Slab off varifocals

Height compensation prism near | Slab off edge 11mm below center cross

Slab off varifocals

Height compensation prism far & near | Slab off edge 11mm below center cross

Our slab-off cut (a grinding and polishing technique that serves to create a height compensation prism), which is used for both multifocal and varifocal lenses in the organic and mineral range, creates a barely visible and perceptible dividing line on the inside of the lens that runs across the entire width of the lens.
